SMVDCoN reviews arrangements for Entrance test

JAMMU, May 31: The 25th meeting of the Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVD-CoN), Kakryal, reviewed the arrangements for conducting the Entrance test for admission of students for the 3rd batch of B. Sc. Nursing Course (2018-19). The Entrance test will be held on June 3, 2018 at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
It was informed that the interview of the candidates for the 3rd batch of students will be held at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Kakryal, during June 12-14. The first selection list of the candidates will be uploaded on the website www.smvdcon.org of the College on 16 June and if any seat remains vacant, the second list will be uploaded on June 22. The classes for the 3rd Batch will start on July 9, 2018. In all, 60 students will be selected for the Session 2018-19.
The meeting was chaired by Maj. Gen. S. K. Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the College of Nursing; and Mr. Umang Narula, Principal Secretary to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Dr. V. Verma, Dean, SMVDU; (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Administrator; and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College of Nursing, participated in the deliberations.
It is pertinent to recall that on the directions of Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shrine board, a scholarship scheme for the B. Sc. Nursing students of SMVDCoN has been introduced to inculcate competitive spirit among the students and, besides, to provide financial support to the meritorious and the poor and needy students, to enable them to complete the professional course in this College.
This scheme will benefit 24 students, three each under Merit and Merit-cum-Means categories, year wise, for four years. Each selected student will get tuition fee waiver of 100%, 75% and 50% amounting to Rs. 40,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000, respectively, in each academic year on the basis of her inter-se merit among the first 3 positions in the previous two semesters of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th academic years. However, for the 1st year students, the combined merit of the 10+2 marks and Entrance Test, in the ratio of 30:70, respectively, will be considered for award of merit scholarships.
