SMRSM, NMC delegations call on Governor

JAMMU, Dec 15: A delegation of Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma Memorial, Poonch, an NGO, led by its Chairman, Ali Mohd. Mir called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
The Governor released “Message of Peace Through Glorious Quran-Peace In Islam” a book, based on Quranic verses, which has been edited by Al Haj Ghulam Hyder. The Governor was also presented two paintings on theme of world peace which had been done by Tariq Safi.
The delegation, interalia, apprised the Governor about their demand for the establishment of an ITI for Mandi Tehsil in Poonch district, an Army Goodwill School in name of Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma at village Chakrara, an IGNOU Centre for Mandi Tehsil and financial assistance to the NGO for helping the flood victims.
Mehmooda Akhter, President, Handicapped Association, Kashmir, and member of SMRSM, requested the Governor’s support for the opening of centres for imparting training in tailoring, sozni and typing for handicapped girls/ boys, and widows at Chattergam in Budgam district.
The Governor observed that the delegation’s demands would be given due consideration.
A delegation of National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) led by its president, Subash Shastri also called on Mr. Vohra.
The delegation voiced their concerns over the continuing delay in the regularization of daily rated workers in different Government departments who were engaged from 1994 onwards, provision of separate budgets in every department for regular disbursement of wages to the daily wagers, release of pending dearness allowance, timely disbursement of GP Fund advance and withdrawals and pensionary benefits to employees of Public Sector Undertakings.
The Governor observed that the delegation’s demands would be taken up with the concerned authorities.
