SMC to conduct sterilization to prevent spread of coronavirus

SRINAGAR, Mar 11: Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today ordered the closure of educational institutions and other places of gathering in Srinagar and said they will carry out sterilization of important places.
The details about the step taken by the SMC were given by its Mayor Junaid Matto during a press conference here. He said that the step was being taken to sanitize and sterilize these places within a few days.
“The SMC called a special session and a discussion was carried out on how Srinagar should deal with the threat of coronavirus and few decisions were taken unanimously,” he said.
Earlier, the Mayor tweeted that he has ordered the closure of educational institutes and other places in Srinagar.
With regard to the measures that the SMC is planning to carry out in Srinagar city, the Corporation has given approval to several steps and measures to be officiated within its limits which includes closure of all educational institutions and coaching centers, closure of all gymnasiums, indoor and outdoor stadia, closure of all clubs and sports centers.
The Mayor said that the SMC will be procuring 1,000 full quarantine body-kits and spraying machines. The deployment of 200 teams of 5 each for special sterilization with NACLO, bleach at vulnerable hubs will also be done.
He said that all public/private hospitals to go into heightened sanitation/sterilization mode. “Daily sterilization rosters at hospitals, airport, railway station and places of worship,” he said.
There will be a cancellation of all sports events within SMC limits with immediate effect. “Phased segregation of flea markets including Sunday Market,” he said.
