JAMMU, Mar 13: Post Graduate Department of Computer Applications and Music at Government College for Women (GCW) Parade in partnership with Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Jammu here today gave Smart Visual Aids to visually impaired students.
The initiative was taken under the guidance of College Principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo.
CRC Jammu in collaboration with Pradhan Mantri Divyasa Kendra-ALIMCO initiated the distribution of smart visual aids at GCW Parade to empower students with visual impairments by providing them with the latest technology to aid their educational pursuits.
Smart visual aids including devices like Smart Phones with Daisy/EPUP Software and Sugamay Cane with Untra-Sonic sensor which are designed to facilitate a more inclusive learning environment and easy mobility were given to the students to enable them to access educational materials and participate in classroom activities with greater independence and ease.
Head of the Computer Applications Department, Prof. Vinus Sharma at GCW Parade played a pivotal role in identifying the needs of the students and coordinating with CRC Jammu to ensure timely provision of the essential tools.
The distribution event was marked by the presence of Dr Jasmeet Kour, HoD Music, Prof Shujat Khan, Prof Rakesh Kumar, Mitu, Priya, officials of CRC Dr K. Prabhu, Dr. Hasnain Khan and other team members.
Dr Tickoo expressed gratitude towards Dr Rohnika Sharma, Director CRC Jammu for their generous contribution.
