SLSA reaches out to flood affected people

SRINAGAR, Sept 24: Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority has directed the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kulgam to constitute Core Groups to help the flood-affected people of district Kulgam.
According to a statement issued by R N Wattal, Member Secretary J&K State Legal Services Authority, the Core Groups would, in terms of NALSA scheme for legal services to disaster victims, ensure immediate help of Government and non-Government agencies to the flood-affected.
These Groups would also coordinate with the different Government Departments and NGOs for bringing  immediate relief to the flood victims, to supervise the distribution of relief material to them, oversee construction of temporary shelters, transporting the victims to safer places, ensure availability of food, medicines and drinking water to disaster victims, oversee construction of damaged dwelling houses, to conduct the Legal Awareness Programmes in the relief camps on the right of the victims and open temporary legal aid clinics, for assisting  the flood affected  victims.
The Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kulgam has been further directed to submit comprehensive compliance report with regard to the constitution of Core Groups and opening of Legal Aid Clinic and measures taken for providing help to the flood affected victims.
