Slathia inaugurates 11th showroom of JKI

Minister for Industries and Commerce inaugurating JKI showroom at Exhibition Ground at Jammu on Wednesday.
JAMMU, Dec 26: Maintaining that Jammu and Kashmir Industries Limited (JKI), has a centuries old historical background and Sher-i-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah always endeavoured to make it a vibrant company to provide better opportunities of livelihood to the thousands of skilled and unskilled people of the State, the Minister for Industries and Commerce S. S. Slathia today said that the Coalition Government, soon after taking over in 2008, again made determined efforts to revive all the sick Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs) of the State, which were on the brink of extinction.
Speaking at an impressive function, after inaugurating State of Art, Sale-cum-Exhibition showroom set-up by the JKI at Exhibition ground, here today, Mr. Slathia said that sincere efforts of the Government coupled with the dedication and hard work of employees, most of the PSUs got not only revived but showed extra-ordinary performance, for which benefits of the recommendations of 6th Pay Commission were extended to them also.
The Minister assured that JKI will also be brought under the ambit of 6th Pay Commission recommendations very soon, as its production is expected to touch all time high target of 1.75 lakh meters of fibre in the coming fiscal as against 40,000 meters during the current financial year.
The showroom at Exhibition Ground Jammu will be the 11th showroom of JKI in the State where variety of silken and woollen products with quality assurance and reasonable price on 10% special discount have been kept on display and sale for the customers.
The Minister announced that some multinational companies have desired to have a tie-up with the J&K Government for supply of export quality linen fibre and tweed from HDC Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, Shantmanu urged the need for motivating maximum number of Vaishno Devi Ji pilgrims to visit showrooms of the JKI and other PSUs to give big boost to the sales.
The function, among others, was attended by President Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Y. V. Sharma, MD, JKI, Javed Iqbal, MD, SICOP, R. L. Tikoo, MD, SIDCO, M. Mouzam, MD, J&K Cements, Razdan, Director Industries and Commerce, Gulzar Qureshi, Director Handloom department, Daulat Ram, MD, Handloom Development Corporation, M.S. Dua, MD JKEDI, M. I. Parrey, MD JK minerals D. K. Sharma and Secretary KVIC Ravinder Singh.
