SRINAGAR, July 11: Asking the KVIB to focus on providing “Backward and Forward Linkage” to the entrepreneurs to boost their sales, the Minister for I&C, S. S. Slathia today called for organizing more orientation and awareness programmes to acquaint the entrepreneurs with various aspects of managerial and operational functions like finance, production, marketing, enterprises management, banking and accounts.
Speaking at the 99th meeting the Board of Directors of Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB), here, the Minister, who is also Chairman of the KVIB, urged for generating more employment opportunities for the rural youth through entrepreneurship development. He also urged for creating raw material banks of wool, pashmina and other related items to meet the requirements of the unit holders. “Extensive Craft development training programmes also needed to be organized for the unemployed youth,” Mr. Slathia added.
He asked the KVIB to complete physical verification of various KVIB units under PMEGP, adding that upto date audit of the accounts of the Board should be completed without further delay.
The meeting was informed that the Board has established 1224 projects against the target of 409 with employment to 10251 persons. An amount of Rs 17.36 crore was provided to these entrepreneurs as margin money which is 303.48% more than the assigned target. In addition, 336 candidates were imparted trainings under various crafts including bee keeping in 13 short duration training camps. The Board has also organized four district level exhibitions at Pulwama, Ganderbal, Kathua and Doda and one state level exhibition at Spiritual Growth Centre at Katra during last fiscal.
Commissioner/Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Shantmanu,Commissioner/Secretary, RDD, Farooq Ahmad Peer, representatives of Finance, planning and Cooperatives, noted Gandhian, Vaid Kumar Ghai, Mushtaq Ahmad Qureshi, Managing Director, JK KVIB, Ravinder Singh and concerned officers attended the meeting.
