VIJAYPUR, June 11: Senior National Conference leader and former minister, Surjeet Singh Slathia today lashed out at PDP-BJP Government for its abject failure in meeting aspirations of the people, saying the remote and border areas are particularly facing unprecedented crisis on account of utility services and availability of minimum basics.
“The worsening supply of power and drinking water besides delayed supplies of food-grains are major issues facing to the people”, Slathia said while addressing a public meeting at village Raika Labana in Ramgarh sector of the Vijaypur Assembly Constituency this afternoon.
He cautioned the Government against abdicating its responsibility towards the people and said course corrections were needed in ensuring completion of development projects in time bound manner and effective implementation of various welfare schemes. He said the lack of political direction has also contributed to administrative inertia and people have nowhere to go for redressal.
Referring to the recent massive ceasefire violations from across the International Border, Slathia said the dark shadows of hostilities have cost future of people and retarded the growth of those living in forward areas in particular.
“Our people are living in constant fear and perpetual threat that has taken toll of their normal life”, the former minister said and referred to the unfortunate deaths in various areas along the border due to shelling. He said these human tragedies call for ending the baggage of the past to pave way for tranquility and lasting peace.
Slathia criticized the PDP-BJP Govt for ignoring the border dwellers and paying no heed to their grievances and problems.
Block president Bhagwan Singh, Mohan Singh Patti, Riyas Ahmed, Ex- Chairman Municipal Committee Bari Brahmana Raman Gupta, City president Vijaypur NC Sodagar Gupta, Om Parkash Attri, Ex Sarpanches Pagwan Dass, Kamal Singh, Darshan Singh, Tajinder Singh and Davinder Singh were also present.
