Ashraf for prioritizing distribution of essential commodities to far flung, border areas

JAMMU, June 11: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Mohammad Ashraf Mir chaired a meeting to review the functioning of FCS&CA Department, here today.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed stock and supply position of food grains in Jammu region under various schemes launched by the Government especially for the welfare of  people belonging to weaker sections.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure the distribution of food grains to every beneficiary under Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES) and National Food Security Act (NFSA).
Reviewing the implementation of Chief Minister’s order to provide additional one Kg of sugar to every ration card holder as a goodwill gesture during Ramadan, the Minister sought the detailed district wise report of allocation, lifting and distribution of sugar and directed the concerned functionaries to provide adequate supply of ration to the people in fair and transparent manner.
He emphasized on prioritizing the distribution of essential commodities like LPG gas and other sufficient stock to reach every nook and corner of the State especially at far flung  and border areas.
“The population living in far flung areas and those who are affected due to border shelling will be the priority of the department”, the Minister affirmed.
He further directed to intensify the market checking of essential commodities ahead of Eid. “Adulteration will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the erring persons”, he maintained.
He further directed the concerned Assistant Directors   to review the list of PHH beneficiaries and weed out the undeserving so that no deserving soul would be left out.
The Minister further asked the senior functionaries to personally monitor the timely distribution of ration and stressed on maintaining complete transparency keeping in view the benefit to larger populace.
He asked the functionaries to submit a detailed report of future course of action and prepare a comprehensive mechanism to deliver ration at the doorsteps.
Commissioner Secretary, Dr. Abdul Rashid, Director FCS&CA, Choudhary Rashid Azam Inqalabi, Deputy Director Supplies, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, Deputy Director Planning, Mohd Iqbal Zargar, Deputy Director F&R, Kulraj Singh and Assistant Directors from the division besides concerned officers of the department attended the meeting.
