JAMMU, Feb 18: Dr Vivak M Arya, Assistant Professor, Division of Soil Science, SKUAST-Jammu has received best paper presentation award in International Conference on Natural Resource Management for Food Security and Rural Livelihoods held at National Agricultural Science Centre Complex (NASC), New Delhi.
The paper titled “Impact of soil based conservation agriculture techniques under climate resilient agriculture for better livelihood security” discussed about the various climate smart agriculture practices. The conference was attended by more than three hundred delegates including delegates from USA, EU, South America, South Asia, Africa and Arab countries.
The award was presented by Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The research paper highlighted the importance of climate resilient agriculture in pretext of changing climate. The paper put impetus on developing comprehensive and effective adoption and mitigation measures to enhance resilience to climate change.
The paper advocated the construction of strong consortium between different stakeholders which can deliver optimally under climate change and variability. The paper also discussed socioeconomic aspect of climate change and its negative impact on agriculture. The paper gave solution to the issues pertaining to the extreme weather events and changing pattern of agriculture.
Few of the eminent scientists across the globe who attended the conference were Prof Franco, Prof Maya, Dr A K Sikka and Dr A K Singh, Dr J C Katyal, Dr Shardha, Dr P K Mishra and Dr Srinivas Rao.
