JAMMU, Jan 20: SKUAST-Jammu employees, under the banner of Joint Action Committee, held one hour token protest to convey their resentment and concern over repeated delay in the disbursement of their monthly salaries.
More than 500 employees, including scientists, teachers, non-teaching staff, technical staff, Class IV employees, skilled staff, unskilled labourers and young professionals joined the peaceful protest.
They were demanding the release of pending salaries till 30th of January and removal of illegally placed Incharge Registrar, who has been given additional charge in gross violation of SKUAST-J Act / Statutes and JKCSR rules.
The Joint Action Committee threatened to intensify their agitation as further course of action if no action is taken on their both the demands.
Chairman of the Joint Action Committee Dr Vikas Sharma informed that in the past one and half year, they have represented several times to the competent authority seeking proper mechanism for the timely disbursement of salaries of SKUAST-J employees on 1st of every month, to save the teaching and non- teaching staff of the university from the extra burden of interest, but no heed was taken by present dispensation system.
S Kamaldeep Singh Co-chairman of Joint Action Committee, said it was very painful that the employees got their salaries of November, 2024 after the lapse of one month and till date the employees have not yet received their salaries for the month of December, 2024.
President Labour Union SKUAST-Jammu, Devinder Singh Happy informed that the poor labourers are getting their salaries after 25th of every month with discrepancy in ESI and PF deposit.
