JAMMU, Apr 30: Division of Vegetable Science and Floriculture, SKUAST-J, FOA, Chatha, today organized one day training programme under NABARD sponsored project entitled “Production and demonstration of quality planting material of commercially important cut and loose flowers in Jammu region”.
The training was organized at village Chatha and attended by 60 local farmers. Dr Arvinder Singh, Co-Principal Investigator of the project, gave a brief scenario of the floriculture sector of the State.
Dr R K Pandey, Associate Professor and Principal Investigator of the project, discussed the scientific production technologies of the various crops covered under the project and urged the farmers for practicising floriculture for livelihood security.
Dr Nomita Laishram, Assistant Professor and Dr Shahid Ahmad, Deputy Director Research discussed about the various diseases of cut and loose flowers and their management strategies. Dr Sandeep Chopra and Dr Manoj Kumar interacted with the farmers about the various weed management strategies.
The farmer representatives were also provided advanced training kits.
