SKIMS organizes 4-day International Conference

SRINAGAR, Apr 11: For the first time in the history of Kashmir, a galaxy of international and national luminaries from Medical and Dental specialities shared platform at “FACE-OFF” 2014 International Conference on Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery organized by Department of Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics at SKIMS Medical College & Hospital, Bemina.
During the 4-day long conference which started from April 9, 2014, various patients of craniofacial anomalies, which is the deformity of face, jaws and teeth by birth are being operated.
National and international faculty from USA, UK, Germany, Spain and Sri Lanka are deliberating and discussing the various modalities to treat craniofacial anomalies.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. K. S. Rao, renowned Craniofacial Surgeon from Bangalore, Prof. Dr. Showket Ali Zargar, Director/Principal SKIMS, Prof. Dr. Rafiq Pampori, Principal Government Medical College Srinagar, Prof. Dr. Riyaz Farooq, Principal/Dean, Government Dental College & Hospital, emphasized the importance of holding such conferences that help the stakeholders, exchange fruitful information and ideas that ultimately benefit the profession and patients at large.
The organizing Chairman of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Shakeel, renowned Maxillofacial surgeon of the Kashmir valley  emphasized the need for starting post-graduate course in the field of Maxillofacial surgery at SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, Srinagar.
