SKIMS to get Pharmacovigilance Centre

SRINAGAR, June 4: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science will soon get a Pharmacovigilance Centre.
Dr. Y.K Gupta Prof and Head Department of Pharmacology AIIMS, New Delhi, explained the capacity building for safety reporting.
Prof Gupta said clinical trials are monitored through pharmoco vigilance for efficiency and safety and informed Pharmacovigilance centre will be set up at SKIMS.
He was speaking during a scientific programme on “Capacity Building for Clinical Research in India”, which was organized by Department of Clinical Pharmacology, SKIMS in coordination with Programme for Appropriate Technologies in Health (PATH).
Director SKIMS Dr Showkat A Zargar said pharmaceutical industry in India is witnessing expansion and is embedded with both opportunities as well challenges.
He stressed on stake holders to safeguard interests and ensure safety of people in clinical trials.  He said research in medical science is critical and medical science has been revolutionized through research.
He thanked and appreciated director SKIMS for his support.
Dean Medical Faculty Dr Gul Javid and Dr Z A  Wafai HoD Clinical Phramacology also spoke on the occasion.
Faculty, students and research scholars participated in the programe.
