A SKIMS spokesperson in a statement said that the Director SKIMS and Ex-officio Secretary to Govt. Dr. Omar Javed Shah appreciated and congratulated the department for organizing the workshop.
He said that such innovative procedures and techniques will surely benefit the patients and take patient care at SKIMS to new heights.
“The workshop was conducted by the team of doctors including Prof G.N.Lone, Paras Shrivastava and Ishtiyaq Pandith (Technical Guides from Medtronic USA),  Dr. Tahleel (Radiology), supported by faculty , resident doctors and technical staff of CVTS, and Anesthesiology,” the statement read
The spokesperson said the technique is quite new and innovative which helps numerous patients with varicosity of leg veins without open surgery and is purely a percutaneous procedure.
“This technique can be performed under local or spinal anesthesia and can be done on OPD basis without putting much burden on hospital resources. Though the technique has been recent and applied throughout the world but at SKIMS, it was not a routine procedure earlier. We have procured the latest version of RFA equipment (RFG-3) which is available only in few centers of the country,” he said
“With this facility, hundreds of patients can be benefited and can avail the treatment at a very low cost. Till date such patients used to go outside the state for treatment which was used to be quite costly,” he added.
