SRINAGAR, Apr 2: State Judicial Academy today organized one day special orientation programme on powers and jurisdiction of Special Judges under NDPS Act and laws relating to Motor Accident Claims for District and Sessions Judges of Kashmir Province.
The proceedings were conducted by Abdul Rashid Malik, Director State Judicial Academy, who gave an overview of the programme and deliberated upon the need for organizing such programmes.
Justice Hasnain Masoodi, former Judge, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir extensively deliberated upon powers and jurisdiction of Special Judges under NDPS Act, the provisions relating offences and penalties, procedure including search and seizure.
He also deliberated upon the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act and the laws relating to accident claims particularly the provisions relating to awarding just and proper compensation to children, housewives, disabled and adoption of proper multiplier by the Tribunal.
He emphasized upon the District Judges about their participatory role and responsibility as trial judges.
