Six held with over 34-gram heroin in Udhampur, Samba districts

JAMMU, May 31: Six alleged drug peddlers were arrested in separate operations in Udhampur and Samba districts with over 34 grams of heroin, officials said.
They said a team of Udhampur Police Station arrested one Burhan Nazir of Srinagar with 3.68 grams of heroin and two other individuals, identified as Abrar Ul Islam and Haris Ahmad Dar of Kupwara, with 13.12 grams of heroin.
Accordingly, FIR numbers 234/2026 and 236/2026 were registered against the accused individuals under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Udhampur.
In another operation at Phalata naka in Udhampur, officials said a party of Police Station Rehambal arrested one Raj Kumar of Sandrot Dansal, district Jammu, with 3.73 grams of heroin.
He was booked in case FIR number 121/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Rehambal.
In Samba, one Ajay Kumar of Dhanori, tehsil Katra, district Reasi, was arrested with 3.68 grams of heroin and Rs 8810 in cash during routine vehicle checking at Rakh Amb Talli, officials said.
A case FIR number 129/2026 under sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Samba.
Similarly, in another operation at Nihalika near Shiv Temple, Bari Brahamana area in Samba district, one Rakesh Kumar of Ward number 7, near Chinta Mani Mandir, Katra, was arrested with 9.87 grams of heroin along with one mobile phone and a digital weighing machine.
He was booked in case FIR number 140/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bari Brahamana.
Officials said further investigation in all the cases has been set into motion to trace the forward and backward linkages of the people arrested.
