JAMMU, May 31: Former MLC, Charanjit Singh Khalsa said that the holy Guru Granth Sahib has included the sacred Vaani of Guru Ravidass, which reflects the universal message of equality, humility, devotion and spiritual awakening for the entire mankind.
He informed this while receiving Hindi poems on Guru Ravidass written by Balbir Ram Rattan at a function here, today.
Khalsa appreciated the efforts made by Balbir in spreading the teachings and philosophy of Guru Ravidass through literature and poetry. He said that such writings play an important role in connecting the younger generation with the spiritual and social message of great saints.
Charanjit Singh Khalsa said that Guru Ravidass devoted his entire life to the upliftment of humanity and preached the path of truth, equality and devotion to God. He said that the inclusion of Ravidass Ji’s Vaani in the holy Guru Granth Sahib itself is proof of the immense respect accorded to the great saint by Sikh Gurus.
Khalsa also recited a famous Shabad of Guru Ravidass Ji, “Jab hum hote tab Tu nahi, ab Tuhi mai nahi,” and explained its deep spiritual meaning. He said that the Shabad teaches mankind to shed ego and surrender completely before the Almighty. “When ego dominates the human mind, God remains distant, but once ego disappears, divine presence fills the heart,” he said.
He further said that the Vaani of Guru Ravidass included in the holy Guru Granth Sahib conveys the message of universal brotherhood, social harmony, humility and devotion. He emphasized that these teachings remain highly relevant in the present times when society needs unity, peace and mutual respect.
Balbir Ram Rattan expressed gratitude to Charanjit Singh Khalsa for sharing the sacred Shabad and elaborating on its spiritual significance. He said that the teachings of Guru Ravidass continue to inspire millions and guide society towards righteousness, equality and human welfare.
