Sinha-led delegation visits south Kashmir, meets various groups

SRINAGAR: A five-member delegation led by former union finance minister and senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha today visited south Kashmir district of Shopian and meet traders, members of civil societies, besides representatives of other groups.

The delegation arrived here yesterday for the second time in less than two months to try and bridge the gap between people of the valley and New Delhi.

A senior BJP leader Sofi Yousuf said he did not seen any immediate change in the situation after the visit of Mr Sinah. “Though Mr Sinha is a senior party leader, but it will not break any ice,” he said, adding people of the valley are favouring peace.

After interacting with various delegations, Mr Sinha said that people of Kashmir still respect former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and a solution in the lines drawn by him should be put forth.          However, he said earlier attempts have not received any favourable response so far but we must continue our efforts to find a solution.
