Sikhs protest against British Govt’s role in Operation Blue Star

JAMMU, Jan 17: A protest demonstration was held by various Sikh organisations under the banner of Sikh United Front against the British Government and the Prime Minister for their role in operation Blue Star of 1984 on Golden Temple of Amritsar.
The protest was led by Avtar Singh Khalsa, general secretary, Sikh United Front. The Sikh organizations which participated in the protest included Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa, Nirboh Nirvar Organisation, AISSF, Sikh Nowjawan Sabha, Gurmat Vihar Manch,  Sikh Welfare Society and Guru Granth Sahib Study Centre.
The protestors were raising slogans against the British Government and Prime Minister.
Addressing the protestors Avtar Singh Khalsa said that during the Quit India Movement Sikhs played a leading role and laid down their lives to fight the British forces and emancipation of the country from foreign rule and it is unfortunate that the Indian Government invited the same British Government and hatched a conspiracy against the Sikhs and attacked the devotees who visited the Golden Temple on the Martyrdom Day of Fifth Sikh Guru Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj in June 1984.
Terming it a shameless act he said entire Sikh Community condemns it.
He said the revelations by British M P Tom Waston on the basis of top secret documents found at British National Archives which have now been made public, reinforces the disclosure made by the former R&AW Official, Kanwarpal.
Others who participated in the protest were S Mohinder Singh, S Parmjit Singh, Ramnik Singh Byral, S Dharminder Singh, S Harjit Singh, S Gurcharan Singh Mohra, S Raja Singh, S Gajan Singh, S Surinder Singh Bala, S Kulwant Singh, S Sukhjit Singh etc.
