JAMMU, June 26: Sikh Progressive Front along with other Sikh organizations like Kashmir Sikh Society, Manav Welfare Society, Sikh Noujwan Sabha etc have alleged discrimination with Sikh community of J&K UT as no Sikh has been taken as member in the recently constituted six member Public Service Commission (PSC).
In a press conference here today S. Balvinder Singh, Front president claimed that sizable population of Sikhs is spread all over the J&K but the government has neglected the community many times for unknown reasons.
He also said that Sikh community lived in Kashmir during the height of militancy by keeping the National Flag high but was ignored in PM’s employment package.
Singh also claimed that no Sikh has ever been appointed as a Judge in J&K High Court.
“Sikhs of J&K have been demanding implementation of National Minority Commission Act 1992 since long so that Sikhs living in J&K may have benefits like minorities in other parts of India have.
Installation of the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk remained other demand of the Sikhs at the press conference.
S. Manjit Singh, S. Rajinder Singh Sudan, S. Babu Singh and others were also present in the news conference.
