Sikh delegation from Kashmir meets Shah

NEW DELHI, July 4: Days after the reports of alleged Sikh girls being abducted and forcefully converted to Islam, a delegation of All Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee Kashmir met Union Home Minister, Amit Shah here today.
Taking to twitter, Shah said, met a delegation from All Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee- Kashmir.
Though, the details of the meeting was not shared with media, it is understood that the Sikh body representatives have demanded an anti-conversion law for Jammu and Kashmir like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, to prevent forceful conversion in the Union Territory of J&K.

Recently, the Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) protested against alleged conversion of two Sikh girls after they were allegedly kidnapped.
The Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, the highest temporal seat of Sikhism, had taken a serious view of reports of Sikh girls falling victim to ‘love jihad’ and has written to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha seeking a law to prevent forceful religious conversion and marriage.
Earlier a delegation of Valley Sikhs called on senior BJP leader, R P Singh at New Delhi and submitted a memorandum to him demanded Inter Caste Marriage Act as applicable in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to prohibit and punish religious conversions be implemented in J&K.
It also demanded that the Sikhs of Kashmir be declared as minority community whose chairman should be from the community itself and reservation of two seats in Assembly for the community by the Delimitation Commission. It also demanded that the Commission which is visiting J&K should meet the members of the community who are the stakeholders.
The delegation demanded appointment of a Sikh Advisor to LG, Awantipora Airport be declared as Baba Guru Nanak Dev Airport and Mattan Gurudwara which is very close to Awantipura Airport should be declared as national heritage monument.
The delegation further demanded job reservation for Valley Sikhs , launching of special recruitment drive for Sikhs of Valley in Central and State forces, construction of National Monument in memory of 35,000 Sikh martyrs who laid down their lives in Baramulla and Punjabi language should be made compulsory in the Schools.
The delegation, while welcoming the CAA said they will show pleasure if Sikhs and Hindus from any part of world are coming to India and settle there. The community will ensure them everything including starting of their livelihood.
The delegation was led by Baldev Singh chairman All Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee who was accompanied by presidents and members of different district Gurudwara Committees of Kashmir.
