Sikh bodies demand early conduct of DGPC elections

Audit of Jammu DGPC pending for 10 yrs

JAMMU, July 31: Various Sikh organisations today demanded early conduct of District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees elections in J&K UT and audit of DGPC Jammu which is pending for the last over 10 years. .
Addressing a joint press conference here today, Panthic Morcha J&K, Shiromani Akali Dal, All India Sikh Students Federation, Sikh Naujawan Sabha Nanak Nagar (Sant Pura Danna) and three elected members of DGPC Jammu strongly demanded early conduct of elections of the DGPCs in J&K UT by the Administration.
Jathedar Mohinder Singh and Avtar Singh Khalsa also raised question on the working of several district committees, especially Jammu Committee. They said DGPC Jammu has not conducted full house committee meet for the last over one year.
The speakers appealed to the UT Administration to get the election conducted as the things are coming back to normal and also keep more voting points at each polling booth so that SOPs can be followed during the pandemic situation.
They also requested the District Administration Jammu for the audit of the accounts of DGPC Jammu which has not been done for the last 10 years and it is mandatory to conduct audit every year according to Gurdwara Act. They appealed to the Sikh Sangat in J&K ad the youth to come forward and participate in the election process for the betterment of the community.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included , Manmohan Singh, (DGPC Member), Harmenon Singh, Balwant Singh, Sanmukh Singh, Manmeet Singh and Rajinder Singh.
