SI injured in stone pelting

JAMMU, Nov 16: A Sub Inspector of J&K police was injured today in stone pelting during an anti- encroachment drive conducted in Nikki Tawi area.
According to a police official, a team of JDA officials along with a police today conducted an anti-encroachment drive on banks of Nikki Tawi river.
He said when officials move onwards in a bid to dismantle a hut made by a nomadic family on the State land, hundreds of people belonging to the community that were gathered there opposed them. However, when police tried to disperse them, they resorted to stone pelting.
In the incident, SI Neelam Saini, Incharge, police post Canal Road, got injured as a stone hit her nose while some others police officials also received minor injuries. The injured SI was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for treatment.
In this connection, Nowabad police has registered a case and started investigations.
