KATRA, Jan 30: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDB) organised a dental check-up camp at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, here today.
A team of doctors from the Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu, led by Dr. Bhavna Kaul, Associate Professor, conducted the dental check-up of the students of the Gurukul and Government Middle School, Purana Daroor. In all, the team of doctors examined and treated about 140 students at the dental check-up camp.
Earlier, Dr. Kaul interacted with the students and extended awareness about the high importance of oral health. She also spoke about the techniques of perfect teeth brushing.
Tooth brushes, tooth paste and mouth wash were distributed among the students on this occasion.
Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB informed that health check-up of the students of the Gurukul is conducted periodically, while ophthalmological check-up and paediatrics camps would also be organised at the Gurukul for the students of the Gurukul as well as of the Government Middle School, Purana Daroor in the coming weeks.
Dr. Bhandari further informed that at present 86 students are studying in the 6th to 10th classes in this fully residential Gurukul, who are being imparted education in Vedas, Sanskrit, religious scriptures, Karamkand and Pooja rituals, apart from being taught all modern subjects including Science, Mathematics and Computers. Education, boarding, lodging, books, uniforms etc. are being provided to the students by SMVDSB totally free of cost at the Gurukul. He added that the Shrine Board has also made elaborate arrangements for indoor and outdoor games at the Gurukul, besides organising debating competitions and other extra-curricular activities for overall personality development of the students.
