Jitendra adopts 4th village in record period of 7 months

JAMMU, Jan 30: For the first time in record period of seven months, Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States has adopted fourth village in his capacity as MP after being elected to Lok Sabha in May last year.
Announcing this at a pres conference here, today, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Bhattan a remote village in Kishtwar district of his Constituency has also been adopted by him for development on the recommendation of MLA Kishtwar Sunil Sharma.
The work is on for the development of other three villages in the Constituency which were already adopted by Dr Singh and for whose development the funds will be provided from MP land fund, he said.
He said the other three villages which were already adopted by him included Sangwali in Samba district, Saddal in Udhampur district and Humble in Doda district. For Sangwali Rs 37.5 lakh were kept at the disposal of DC Samba for the development of the village as a model village.
He said Saddal in Udhampur district which was perished by last year’s heavy rains and landslide already 37 hutments have been constructed for the rehabilitation of flood victims while the work is on for construction of more hutments. He said the village will be developed as a smart village within one and a half year with the help of a NGO and multinational company by setting up a vocational training centre for creating employment opportunities for the youth. This will be first kind of such a village in the country and State which will be constructed on the ruins of devastating floods.
He said likewise for the development of Hamble village in district Doda, the Deputy Commissioner has been asked to prepare the action plan.
Dr Singh said that work for the development of Bhattan will also take place soon.
Maintaining that Narendra Modi led Government is committed to make special efforts for improving the lot of most backward villages in the country, Dr Singh said that special attention will be paid for the development of the underdeveloped areas of the State so that the people don’t lag behind in progress and development.
He said as an MP he has decided to adopt six villages in his Constituency in five years to make them as model villages.
BJP State vice president, Ramesh Arora, MLA Kishtwar Sunil Sharma and Party press secretary, Balbir Ram were also present in the pres conference.
