SRINAGAR, Sept 24: Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued a show cause notice to the Deputy Commissioner Budgam and Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority asking them why proceedings may not be initiated against them under contempt of courts Act.
The Court had earlier directed the DC Budgam to implements provisions of Agrarian Land Act and Land Revenue Act in letter and spirit to stop constructions on agriculture land in the area.
Hearing these arguments from the counsel for petitioner Nazir Ahmad Beig that the court’s order has been violated, a Division Bench of High Court comprising M M Kumar and D S Thakur directed the officials to explain their position to the court.
The bench observed the court had earlier ordered to take action over the constructions going on in “unauthorized” Andrabi residential Colony near Narbal crossing where Land use Act is violated by some people.
Anguished over the inaction of the authorities, the bench observed that “nothing has been done and construction activities are continuing unabated.”
