Shiv Sena to train women in sewing

JAMMU, Jan 13: To make the women self-reliant, J&K unit of Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackrey has started ‘Maa Meenatai’ sewing training centre at Sena Bhawan here today to provide free sewing training to the women.
Maharashtra’s Electric and General Kamgar Sena president, Kunal Sarmalkar and Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni jointly inaugurated the center.
Speaking on the occasion Sahni said it is shocking that J&K stands at the last row in terms of women employment.
He also said that women unemployment rate is 76.5 per cent in J&K while the unemployment rate among men is 19.35 per cent.
The Shiv Sena leader also said that it was the dream of Late Meenatai, wife of Shiv Sena founder Bala Saheb Thackeray that women of the country should be self-reliant.
“With the aim to fulfill the dream of Late Meenatai, we have started free sewing course for women and registration for this two months course has started from today,” he maintained adding that even after the completion of the course, they will help the trained women to earn a living.
Sahni thanked the famous designer Suman Sethi and Sudha Sareen for offering free teaching service and required equipment including sewing machines to the centre.
He informed that beautician and English speaking courses will also be started very soon.
President women wing of Shiv Sena, Meenakshi Chibber; chairman Rakesh Gupta; general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; G.I Singh, working president, Ashwani Gupta, vice president; Romesh Gupta, Surjeet Singh, Sanjeev Kohli, Vikas Dewan; secretary Raj Singh, Balwant Singh, Sanjeev Soodan, Geeta Lakhotra, Dimple, Raju, Mangu, Pawan Singh and others were also present on this occasion.
