JAMMU, Dec 8: Agitated over arrest of the Shiv Sena activists, who were hoisting the National Flag at Lal Chowk yesterday, members of Shiv Sena (Bala Sahib Thackery) today held a protest demonstration.
Headed by their State president Dimpy Kohli, the Sena activists raised slogans against the Modi Government as well as Mehbooba Government for harassment to the nationalists and appeasing the anti-nationals. They also demanded that Lal Chowk in Srinagar should be painted in national tri-colour.
While addressing the gathering, the Shiv Sena general secretary Manish Sahni strongly condemned the State Government’s act of arresting those unfurling National Flag. “Is it a crime to host the National Flag? Does it hurt the sentiments of public? Why the Govt stopped us to unfurl the National Flag by imposing section 144?” he asked and alleged that the State Government has failed in all aspects and it should resign immediately.
Sahni also appealed the Supreme Court to interfere and punish those who play politics over tricolour. “Ist Prime Minister of India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru had hoisted the National Flag at Lal Chowk Srinagar in presence of then Prime Minister of State Sheikh Mohd Abdullah. This time Ex CM Dr Farooq Abdullah asked the Centre to dare to host the tri-color at Lal Chowk. In the UPA Govt,  the BJP had organized the Ekta Yatra and hoisted the National Flag at Lal Chowk but  the Centre and State Govt are silent now over this issue,” he said and demanded that the historical Lal Chowk should is given  the tri-color  to stop politicking over this issue forever.
Those who took part in this protest demonstration, included working president Ashwani Gupta, Sr vice president Rajeev Bhandari, spokesman Rakesh Kak, Nathpal Chowdary, Raj Singh, Pawan Singh, Raju Salaria, Sanjeev Sharma, Mangar Kalotra, Mahesh Kumar, Charanjeet, Ashwani Sharma, Raju Sharma, Suman Lori  and others.
