Shifting papers registration to Revenue Deptt ‘ill-advised’ move: PCC

JAMMU, Oct 30: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has called in question the decision of changing the registering authority for documents and vest the powers to the Revenue authorities and demanded immediate roll back of the decision.
Reacting to the decision of the Government with regard to change of registering authority from Judicial authorities to Revenue authorities, Legal Cell of the Congress Party has taken strong exception to the ill- advised move of the Government which will jeopardize the interests of general public. It is the general public which will face hardships and suffer numerous problems apart from apprehension of corrupt practices in the process.
It said the common people have bitter experience of dealing with lower rung Revenue officials in the State and there is already lot of corruption in the process of preparation of necessary documents for further registration by the judicial authorities. It is still the fear of close scrutiny of Judicial authorities that the documentation properly is done and prepared by the Revenue officials as per requirement of law but the people believe that they will to have face further hardships if the system is changed from the existing one.
The Legal body of the party has asked the Government to reconsider the decision and continue the existing system and rather streamline the short comings in the system regarding getting the necessary documents from revenue authorities to improve it further for the convenience and removal of hardships faced by the public. The proposed change in the system would ruin the process and the general public shall suffer the most, the viewed.
