Shift corrupt EO: VOK

SRINAGAR, Feb 22: Miffed over the reinstatement and posting of a corrupt official of the Housing and Urban Development Department, the Vigilance Organization has asked the Government to shift him from his present place of posting to a non-sensitive place as he is on the radar of the probing agency.
Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Sopore, Abdul Rashid Shah, has been awarded a plum post by the department despite his involvement in corruption cases and illegal appointments, violating the department’s own order.
Inspector General of Police, Vigilance Organization of the State, had written a letter last month to the Secretary, General Administration Department, that Shah was involved in four FIR cases and he was on the watch list of the VO team and is again reported to be indulging in corrupt practices.
The IGP says that the officer was reportedly reinstated without any recommendation of Review Committee and was to be posted to a non-sensitive post.
“Contrary to this, he has been posted as Executive Officer, MC, Sopore. Since he was on watch list of our surveillance team and has been again reported to be indulging in corrupt practices,” the IGP says.
“It is therefore recommended that he may be shifted from the present place and posted to some non-sensitive place in the interest of the Govt policy and practice,” the letter says.
Besides Shah, other tainted officials in the HUDD have been placed at sensitive places despite its own order saying that “the officers shall be posted against non-sensitive posts by the Directors of Urban Local Bodies.”
