JAMMU, June 21: Expressing deep concern over the inordinate delay in releasing of 10% DA due from January last, president of National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subhash Shastri today appealed Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to release the same in favour of State Government employees and pensioners in cash in the next Cabinet meeting.
“There is a need for early release of 10% DA due from January last and since the funds for the same had already been earmarked in the current year State budget, we appeal the State Government to take immediate decision in this regard”, Shastri said while addressing a NMC workers’ rally at Domana near here.
He added that there is no justification on the part of the State Government for withholding pending installment of DA to its employees and pensioners, as the same has already been released by the Centre as well as many State Governments during model code of conduct, which is now over and so there should be no hitch on part of J&K Government in releasing the DA arrears as it is a part of the salary and pension.
The other demands highlighted by Shastri include enhancement of medical allowance to Rs 1000 per month, early amendment in SRO 64, removal of all pay anomalies in SRO 93 particularly clerical staff, regularization of services of all daily wagers working in various departments of State Government, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers working in RDD, merger of 50% DA into basic pay and pension and enhancement of wages of daily wagers to Rs 10, 000 per month.
