JAMMU, Apr 7: Sharda Mata Trust Bantalab was duped of Rs 18,000 through fraud withdrawal on March 25.
According to chairman of the Trust, Bharat Bushan Pandita paid a cheque amounting to Rs 5000 payable on Punjab National Bank, Durga Nagar to M/s Raina Electronics on March 23 who deposited the same in its Payees Account at J&K Bank, Branch Bantalab next day.
But to the utter shock and surprise of the Trust as well as the bearer, the cheque has not been deposited in the account of M/s Raina Electronics and instead the amount of Rs 18000 were withdrawn from the Saving Bank Account number 0794000101206602 of Sharda Mata Trust on March 25 vide the same cheque given to M/s Raina Electronics.
The president of the Trust said the same cheque was passed for the same amount in favour of another person. He said the Trust office bearers contacted the PNB Durga Nagar and they neither could give any satisfactory reply nor they credited back the amount in the account of Trust which has been fraudulently withdrawn.
The Trust has urged the Bank authorities to initiate the probe into the fraud and credit the money in its account which has been fraudulently withdrawn.
Admitting that the cheque has been misplaced which had been deposited in the Bank for withdrawal of Rs 5000, Branch Manager J&K Bank, Bantalab said that Bank has brought the issue in the notice of higher ups and the matter is being probed as how the money was withdrawn when it was a Payees Account Cheque.
