AKHNOOR, Oct 5: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma today conducted a whirlwind tour of Akhnoor, Chowki Choura and other adjoining villages to assess the damage caused to the private and public property in the backdrop of recent rains and flash floods.
He interacted with the families whose structures were damaged due to incessant rains and flash floods and assured them that the Government is committed to provide adequate compensation to the affected families.
The Minister asked the team of officers to record full details of the damages suffered by each affected family so that they will be provided adequate compensation. He assured the people of the area that the Administration would extend every help to facilitate their rehabilitation.
He said that the Government has given first priority to restoration of services and repair of public assets, besides rehabilitation of the flood affected people.
Later, the Minister laid foundation stone of Tube Well at Chora to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.20 crore. He said that with the completion of the same, more than 3500 souls of the village and its adjoining areas would be benefitted.
