JOURIAN (AKHNOOR), Mar 26: While stepping up election campaign to ensure victory of Congress-NC joint candidate Madan Lal Sharma from the Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma today addressed election meetings in Akhnoor and Jourian and asked the workers to reach out the masses and highlight the development initiatives taken by the Member Parliament during his two tenures.
Maintaining that functioning of the Member Parliament is like a bridge between State and the Centre, highlighting the problems of the State in the Parliament, the Minister said Madan Lal proved his worth during his both the tenures and was able to get approved many bigger projects for Jammu. He asked the people to elect a right candidate who can safeguard their interests during the next five years, adding that elections are held to give opportunity to the people to realize the performance of the sitting candidate and people must judge the performance of the present MP and vote with their inner voice.
Referring to the problems of border people, the Minister said Madan Lal Sharma was the person who advocated the case of border migrants of Khour and adjoining areas in the Centre during the Kargil conflict and successfully managed the handsome package for them.
Taking a strong dig on the BJP, the Minister said the party is known for its dubious character and inciting the sentiments of innocent people in the name of religion and communalism, which have no place in the pluralistic society of India. India is a country of multi-religion, multi-lingual with strong foundation of secularism which was strengthened by the Congress. The hollow slogans of BJP don’t work now and people know their game plan and rejected such forces in the past. He asked the workers to expose the communal forces and give them befitting reply in the elections.
