AKHNOOR, Dec 28: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today inspected the pace of progress of various on-going projects in Akhnoor and issued instructions to the executive agency for their time bound completion.
The projects which were inspected by the Minister included, Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Nursing School and Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor. He expressed satisfaction on the progress of the projects and directed the JK Housing Board authorities to further speed up the pace and accomplish the projects as per the targets. He stressed the need for maintaining quality of works strictly as per the specifications laid down. He said there should be no compromise on the quality and anybody found violating the norms will face action.
While briefing the Minister about the status of these projects, the Managing Director, JK Housing Board, Rampaul Sharma informed that work on SDH, Akhnoor is in full swing and till date an amount of Rs. 6.50 crore has been spent on various works. Similarly, an amount of Rs. 9.50 crore has been spent on the construction of Ayurvedic College & Hospital, out of total cost of Rs. 25.80 crore. On the construction of Nursing College, an amount of Rs. 4.75 crore has been spent out of the total cost of Rs. 5.35 crore.
The MD informed the Minister that the agency is making its all out efforts to complete the projects as per the targets. He requested the Minister for releasing the remaining funds earmarked for the projects.
Meanwhile, the Minister visited the Army Public School (APS) and interacted with the faculty members and management and enquired about the activities of the school.
He impressed upon the management to give priority to the local teachers in the school. He appreciated the efforts of the school for imparting quality education to the students, especially from the rural and far-flung areas.
Principal APS K.C.S. Mehta briefed about the functioning of the school.
