JAMMU, June 1: A delegation of J&K unit of Janata Dal United (JDU), led by its president GM Shaheen and accompanied by state general secretary Abrar Ahmad, today held a comprehensive meeting with the Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir, Atal Dulloo, to deliberate upon several pressing public concerns and developmental challenges confronting the Union Territory.
During the interaction, Shaheen apprised the Chief Secretary of the deplorable and precarious condition of road infrastructure across the Kashmir Division. He underscored that the prolonged neglect and deterioration of vital road networks have severely impeded public mobility, jeopardized commuter safety, and adversely affected socio-economic activities in both urban and rural areas.
Expressing grave concern over the prevailing situation, Shaheen urged the administration to undertake immediate and comprehensive remedial measures for the restoration, rehabilitation, and modernization of the road infrastructure. He emphasized that the persistent infrastructural deficiencies continue to inflict considerable hardship upon the populace and warrant urgent governmental intervention.
The JDU president also forcefully highlighted the issue of inordinate delays in the disbursement of pending payments to contractors engaged in various developmental and public welfare projects. He stated that the non-clearance of legitimate dues has precipitated financial distress among contractors, hampered project execution, and created an atmosphere of uncertainty within the construction and development sectors.
Shaheen asserted that the expeditious settlement of outstanding liabilities is indispensable for ensuring the uninterrupted implementation of developmental initiatives and sustaining the momentum of infrastructure growth across Jammu & Kashmir.
The Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing to the concerns projected by the delegation and assured them that the issues raised would receive due consideration and appropriate administrative attention.
