SRINAGAR, May 29: Government has released plan allocation of Rs. 7 crore this fiscal to drug organisation for upgradation of testing infrastructure in the Drug Testing Laboratories at Srinagar and Jammu.
This was revealed by Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan during his inspection to Drug Testing Laboratory, Dalgate.
The Health Minister said that budgetary allocation of the organisation could also be enhanced to streamline its working. He further said that Government has notified CDT Laboratory Kolkata and RDT Laboratory Chandigarh for testing of biological drugs. He said in this regard the private recognized laboratories of national repute would be also encouraged, adding that 10 private laboratories have so far applied under expression of interest for empanelment.
During the inspection he went around each section of the laboratory and took stock of the functioning besides drug testing. He directed the concerned staff to ensure lifting of drug samples for their testing to ensure that no spurious drug is sold in the markets or issued to hospitals.
The Minister stressed upon the concerned to be punctual to their duties and ensure double shift working to achieve the targets well in time.
He also impressed upon the concerned field functionaries to ensure enforcement of new drug policy which came into force in the State from April this year. He directed that lifting of samples by the inspectorate staff as testing should be increased manifold.
The Health Minister also visited Tuberculoses Center Dalgate and took stock of its functioning. He inspected drug store and enquired about the distribution of anti TB drugs to the patients.
Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Deputy Controller Drugs, Nazir Ahmad Wani were accompanied by the Minister during the tour.
