JAMMU, Oct 11: State Government Employees Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC) has decided to organized State wide protest programme on October 13 in support of employees’ demands.
The State executive of the Joint Action Committee which met here under the leadership of Subhash Verma, Sushil Sudan, Suresh Sharma, Ajaz Khan and Ishtiaq Qadiri here today took stock of the already chalked out protest programme. It was pointed out that during mobilization meets in various districts and teshils, good response has been received in Kashmir and Jammu regions.
While speaking on the occasion, spokesman of the JAC Suresh Sharma criticised the Government for its criminal silence over the issues of employees and warned that it should desist from testing the patience of the employees. He said the Government has backed out its commitment and even not honoured the agreement reached with the employees’ representatives. He pointed out that ways of demonstration and protest could be different but the employees are one on their issues. He appealed the employees from various departments and the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to hold protest demonstration on October 13 throughout the State in support of their demands.
Sushil Sudan and Subash Verma appealed the employees to assemble at Press Club Jammu at around 11 am to stage protest demonstration on the decided day. In Srinagar the employees under the leadership of Aijaz Khan would assemble at Press Enclave to hold protest demonstration. It was stressed upon the Government to accept the pending demands including removal of pay anomalies, release of 6th Pay Commission arrears, enhancement of retirement age, regularization of temporary/ daily rated workers, 7 % DA etc.
