55,663 DRWs regularised by September 2012 in J&K

SRINAGAR, Oct 11: Government has cleared regularisation of 55,663 Daily Rated Workers (DRW) in the State.
Minister of State for Planning Manohar Lal Sharma in reply to a question by Murtaza Ahmed Khan informed the Legislative Council today that the Finance Department has cleared the regularisation of 55,663 cases of DRWs upto 24 September 2012, out of 59,105 cases who have been engaged prior to January 31, 1994.
He said the cases of left over DRWs will be considered for regularisation as and when their cases completed in all respects, are received in the Finance Department.
Regarding the regularisation of casual labourers, he said a Cabinet Sub-Committee has been constituted, to go into the extent and magnitude of the problem relating to casual workers, including financial, legal and administrative, that may arise in the regularisation of such temporary workers and to work out and appropriate policy.
He said the required information has been received from almost all the departments and has been placed before the Cabinet Sub-Committee.
