JAMMU, June 13: State Govt Employees Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC) today declared to extend full support to the ongoing agitation of Female Multi-purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) and sough the immediate intervention of Health Minister, Bali Bhagat into the matter.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, senior trade unionists- Subhash Verma, Sushil Sudan, KC Dubey, Yash Pal Magotra, Jarnail Khokhar and Farooq Ahmed strongly criticized the State Govt and J&K Police for resorting to use force on the female workers who were struggling democratically for their rights. They are on protest dharna for the last 30 days and the State Govt including BJP Ministers and MLAs from Jammu have shut their eyes. They are least bothered about the sufferings of these hapless workers.

These trade unionists further said that the FMPHWs are struggling for their regularization and clearance of pending wages. They said that Chief Minister and the Health Minister should come forward to resolve the pending issues of the female workers who are on the roads during these scorching hot summer days.
Verma stressed upon the need to initiate dialogue with the leadership FMPHWs Union and solve the pending issues. He strongly condemned the police lathicharge on the protesting FMPHWs at Kathua three days ago and said that use of force is not any solution. The Govt should not test the patience of the employees. They must honour the democratic values and these female workers were protesting as per their fundamental rights granted by the Indian constitution.
He warned to knock the doors of the National Human Rights Commission if the State Govt remained inactive. The SGEJAC appealed all the Unions and Associations of the employees to join the protest of FMPHWs in large number.
