Several parties, organizations condemn killing of two non-local labourers in Kashmir

JAMMU, Oct 18: Several political and social organizations today strongly condemned the targeted killing of two non-local labourers by the terrorists in Shopian district.
National Conference (NC) Party president and MP from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah condemned the killing of non-local labourers. Condemning the attack, Dr Farooq said, “I received the news with utmost grief and shock. There are no words strong enough to condemn the attack. I express my sympathies with the bereaved family and pray for peace to the departed souls.”
While condemning the attack, Omar Abdullah said, “Another unacceptable & indefensible targeted attack against minorities in Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the families of Monish Kumar & Ram Sagar, may they find strength at this difficult time. Prayers for the souls of the deceased.” Among others Party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Party MP Hasnain Masoodi and Sakina Itoo also condemned the attack.

Apni Party’s president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and vice president Zaffar Iqbal Manhas condemned the grenade attack and resultant killing of two non-local labourers in Shopian. Bukhari and Manhas expressed their sympathies with the families of the killed labourers. “This is shocking and everyone in the society must condemn such attack unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms, they added.
General secretary Apni Party Vijay Bakaya also expressed concern at the cold-blooded murders. “This incident confirms the apprehension of Prime Minister Package employees that the trend of targeted killing has not ceased and the environment is still not conducive for their return and work safely in the valley,” Bakaya said and urged the LG Administration not take coercive measures like stoppage of salary to force the PM package employees to return to duty in the Valley.
JKPCC president Vikar Rasool Wani strongly condemned killing of two non-local labourers in Shopian district, terming the incident as gruesome, mindless and ghastly act committed by the militants. The killing of two persons is shocking and very unfortunate, he said. The killing in any form are highly condemnable and unacceptable, those who are involved in this attack must be identified and given exemplary punishment.
Expressing shock over killing of two non local labourers in grenade attack in Shopian, JKPCC working president Bhalla said panic has gripped non-local workers in Kashmir after a series of attacks on them and many may now start fleeing the Valley. He urged the LG Administration to take confidence building measures for the panic gripped people from outside, particularly non-local labourers.
Former Union minister Prof Saifuddin Soz while condemning the killings, expressed his sympathies with the families of the killed non-local labourers. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the two men, who had come here just to earn bread and butter for their families back home.
Senior Congress leader and former minister Yogesh Sawhney termed the killing of the labourers as “unfortunate” and said such incidents reflect the failure of the Government.
The J&K unit of Shiv Sena strongly condemned killing of migrant labourers. Under the leadership of party state chief Manish Sahni, Shiv Sainiks gathered at Sidco Chowk of Bari Brahmana and raised slogans of ‘Restore peace in Kashmir, destroy terrorism’. Speaking on the occasion, Sahni slammed the Government for its alleged failure to control the targeted killings in the Valley.
The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena under the leadership of their president Ashok Gupta, also held a strong protest in Jammu city against the killing of the migrant labourers in Kashmir.
The protest against the killing was also held by Rashtriya Bajrang Dal at Bus Stand, Jammu. The activists of Bajrang Dal raised anti-Pakistan slogans and demanded the Government to take effective steps to stop violence in Kashmir.
Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir also held anti-Pakistan protest against the targeted killing of migrant labourers, on Janipur-High Court Road, Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Dimple (president, Mission Statehood) said targeted killings, grenade attacks on security forces and recovery of arms & ammunition from hideouts on every other day prove that BJP has completely failed to control situation in Kashmir.
Representatives of several Kashmiri migrant organizations including Panun Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Vichar Manch, Roots in Kashmir, Youth 4 Panun Kashmir and Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) today met and discussed the situation in the Valley in the aftermath of the continued attacks on minority community members, including pundits. They expressed concern over the unabated targeted killings by terrorists in the Valley and proposed a fact-finding delegation to assess the ground situation.
Freedom Fighter Memorial Association (FFMA) Chairman Rajiv Mahajan condemned the grenade attack and killing of two non-local labourers from Uttar Pradesh. He expressed his sympathies with the families of the killed labourers.
All Jammu based reserved category employees posted in Kashmir condemned the attack on innocent minority laboures of UP and expressed their anguish over the security lapse in Kashmir. “The Hindus in Kashmir are not safe as they are being targeted by militants daily,” the employees said while protesting in Jammu.
Durga Nagar Welfare Committee, Jammu also condemned the targeted killing of non-Hindus in Kashmir. The meeting appealed the LG administration to attach PM package and non-package employees at Jammu till the peaceful condition prevails in the Valley.
