JAMMU, Feb 6: Several legislators today called on Governor N N Vohra and brought to his notice various problems being faced by the people of their respective Constituencies.
Qamar Hussain, Member of the Legislative Assembly Rajouri brought to the Governor’s notice issues relating to the construction and repair of Thannamandi road; expediting work on mini-secretariat in Rajouri; formation of tehsils at Doongi, Dodasanbala, and Behrote; Hill Development Council for Rajouri and Poonch; mobile schools for the remote areas; Government Degree College at Doongi; restart of air-service from Rajouri to Jammu; filling up vacant posts of teachers in far flung areas etc. Mr. Hussain also pointed out irregularities in the distribution of NDRF relief materials to the flood victims.
The Governor assured the Legislator to look into all the raised issues and urged him to continue sustained pursuit of development issues in his Constituency.
A delegation led by Kamal Verma, Member Legislative Assembly of Bishnah Constituency brought to the Governor’s notice various problems faced by the people due to the repeated cross border firing in areas of Arnia sector. He urged the Governor to consider providing housing plots in safer areas to the affected people; adequate compensation for the people affected by the shelling; construction of safety bunkers for residents who are vulnerable to cross border firing; provision of adequate health, irrigation, roads and electricity infrastructure for his Constituency; opening of a Government Degree College at Arnia and reservation for people living within 5 km range of International Border.
The Governor assured the Legislator to look into all the raised issues and urged him to continue sustained pursuit of development issues in his Constituency.
A delegation led by Bali Bhagat, MLA, Raipur Domana Constituency, called on Mr. Vohra. The delegation comprised Chander Mohan Sharma (Adv.) Prof. Hari Om, Adv. Lalit Moza, Brig. Anil Gupta and S.S. Bijral.
Mr. Bhagat brought to the Governor’s notice, issues relating to land for shelters for border residents; Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme; cancellation of attachments and deployments of teaching staff and reduction in passenger fares etc.
The Governor assured the delegation to look into all the raised issues and urged him to continue sustained pursuit of development issues in his Constituency.
Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, Member of the Legislative Council apprised the Governor about issues of the shortage of food grains and kerosene oil in all the remote areas of Poonch district; demand for issuance of new ration cards on the basis of 2011 Census and re-issuance of ration cards which were destroyed in the recent floods; payment of compensation to the farmers whose lands are across the LoC; allotment of 5 marla housing plots for people living along the LoC; compensation on account of losses due to September 2014 floods; reconstruction of Sher-i- Kashmir and Kalai bridges in Poonch; maintenance of Jammu-Poonch National Highway; rail connectivity for Poonch and Rajouri districts; establishment of Munsif Court at Tehsil Headquarters Mandi; re-alignment of 132 KV Draba transmission line and strengthening of Government staff in various Government offices.
The Governor assured the Legislator to look into all the raised issues and urged her to continue sustained pursuit of development issues.
