LEH, Dec 9: Several important issues were discussed in Civil-Army Liaison meeting held at 14 Core Headquarters here.
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar, Deputy Commissioner, Leh Tsering Angchuk, GOC 14 Core Lt Gen Rajan Bakshi, GOC 3 Inf Division Major Gen A L Chawal, Major Gen 8 Mountain Division, Chief of Staff Major Gen Sanjay Kulkarni and SSP Leh, Vivek Gupta.
While raising various important issues, the CEC requested the top level Army officers to handover 130 kanals of land under Army’s occupation near Leh Airport to Civil Administration for construction of stadium at the earliest as funding in this regard has already been allocated.
Army authorities told that files have been moved to Ministry of Defence in this regard and assured that within one month the matter would be addressed.
The CEC also raised the issue of Army harassing nomads in the name of security in Changthang area and urged the higher officers to consider the case seriously and allow nomads to move freely in pastures.
He also demanded to increase the Army flight tonnage for civilian passengers and vegetable supply for them during winter months.
Spalbar also spoke about the need to make a comprehensive plan under Sadbhavana program by Army involving concerned Councilors, Sarpanchs and Panchs and submit it to Council for its verification and approval.
Responding to the proposal submitted to the Council by Army regarding making an Aquatic Training Centre at Tsomoriri lake, Spalbar expressed disapproval of the proposal keeping in view the fragile ecology and wildlife. He asked Army to identify other suitable sites for such trainings.
The meeting also discussed with Army the progress on various road projects including Leh-Nyoma road, Chushul-Dungti-Phugtse-Demchok road, Dibring-Mahe road and Warila road.
