JAMMU, Jan 5: Services of 42 doctors appointed under SRO 384 in Government Medical Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar in the year 2013, are yet to be regularized.
According to sources, the Government appointed about 42 doctors under SRO 384 in 2013. The 42 doctors (Assistant Surgeons), of which 30 have been extending patient care in Government Medical College and Hospital, Srinagar and 12 in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu were appointed through proper procedures against clear vacancies and on merit basis.
These medicos have been working in two prime health institutions of the State without service break to provide better patient-care and also taking care of administration of these institutions as and when required.
Even though, these doctors are getting pays and perks as per 7th Pay Commission but every year extension is being given to their service. These doctors approached every quarter of administration for addressing of their issue but avail nothing except assurances.
During the regime of previous Government, they were told that a comprehensive policy was being framed to pave the way for their regularization. The irony of these doctors is that 38 are females out of 42 and most of them are at the verge of overage.
The Government has to take lenient view and their service should be regularize on humanitarian grounds.
