Service exports dip 12.6 pc at $12.33 bn

NEW DELHI, Apr 19:  Service export dipped 12.6 per cent at 12.33 billion dollars in February, 2016 as compared to 14.09 billion dollars in the same month last fiscal, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said in a statement. Similarly, the import of services too went down by 8.9 per cent to 7.19 billion dollars during the month under review against 7.89 billion dollars in February, 2015, as per the RBI data on International Trade in Services. Over 55 per cent contribution to the country’s gross domestic product comes from service sector. The RBI releases the monthly data on India’s international trade in services with a lag of around 45 days.          Monthly data on services are provisional and would undergo revision when the Balance of Payments (BoP) data are released on a quarterly basis, it added.
