Sentry kills cop in Handwara

SRINAGAR, Sept 22: A policeman was killed after a Sentry opened fire when he allegedly tried to forcefully enter the temple in the midnight in Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A sentry after assuming an attack opened fire last night, leaving a policeman dead.
He has been identified as Ajay Dhar son of Late Krishen Lal Dhar of Langate Handwara. He was posted at Police Station Handwara.
An official said that the sentry opened fire when the cop tried to enter the temple forcefully in the midnight.
Meanwhile, militants fired upon a man in Chitragam Kalan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district this evening.
Militants fired upon a person in Chitragam who has been shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
As per initial reports, the injured man has been identified as Zameer Ahmad son of Abdul Hameed Lone and is said to be a shopkeeper by profession.
The area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
