JAMMU, Dec 26: An international seminar on the life and teachings of great Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj was organised at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, here today.
The seminar was organised by the Punjabi Sahit Te Sabhyachar Kendra, Jammu, with the cooperation of State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board and District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu. Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest at the function while several intellectuals from the country and abroad attended the programme besides, devotees, leaders of various organizations, students and social activists.
Dr Gurbachan Singh Bachan, chairperson, Chair of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj, University of Mumbai; former secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar, Dr Gurnam Singh Sanghera, visiting Professor Guru Nanak Dev University Amristsar, Advisor to Govt of Canada and S Jasbir Singh Sawar, retired Professor Guru Nanak Dev University & Editor, Chief Khalsa Diwan were the important key speakers who thoroughly spoke on the life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his sacrifices for the cause of humanity and truth.
The speakers while elaborating on the topic said that Guru Gobind Singh ji figured in world history as great leader, a versatile genius, great warrior an adept strategist, a fearless revolutionary, a powerful poet , a unique religious law giver, champion of the down trodden, a relentless defender of the faith and all sacrificing martyr for the cause of suffering and persecuted humanity. They said great Guru wanted to establish the basic principles that of universal brotherhood and the spirit of sacrificing oneself for the others and for it, he established the new institution of the Khalsa Panth. The deep love, determination and faith with which he had embarked upon his mission and which had sustained his assiduous efforts, bore fruit at last. The string of sacrifice that took of the members of his family , his father, his mother, his four sons and his own life, was crowned at last withsuccess. He died fully conscious that he had set wheels in motion as he had wanted to, that he had carried out the mandate of his Lord Akal.
T S Wazir, president Punjabi Sahid Te Sabhyachar Kendra Jammu and chairman of SGPB while presenting vote of thanks elaborated about various programmes and `Nagar Kirtans’ organised recently here in the state to commemorate the 350th Parkash Purab Shatabdi of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
