JAMMU, Sept 7: “3rd International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies” was celebrated at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar today with this year’s theme as “The Air We Share”.
Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME), Bhupinder Kumar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, flagged off a rally to mark the celebration.

Director General, Family Welfare and Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Deputy Director, Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Deepak Kapoor, Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Dr. Narinder Singh Bhatial and Nodal Officer, NPCCHH, Dr. Rashmi Sharma were present on the occasion.
The rally was flagged off to generate awareness at the community level to improve air quality. Also, pamphlets with a message of Clean Air were distributed among the shopkeepers and businessmen surrounding the hospital.
Later, plantation drive was carried out with plants having quality of air purification.
Meanwhile, Secretary inaugurated first Air Quality Index Machine in the OPD complex of the hospital.
He also visited the dedicated Palliative and Geriatric care ward and had an interaction with the patients there.
Afterwards, he visited Blood Component Lab to assess functioning of the centre. He emphasized that this facility should be utilized by all the districts in terms of Blood Components. He also had a round of Emergency ward of the hospital where he inspected the Emergency Response Room.
On the occasion, a colourful programme on theme “The Air We Share” was organized in the hospital where a Nukkad Natak was performed by the trainee students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Nursing College. Also, awareness lectures were delivered by Dr. Nazia on ‘Air Purifying Plants’ and Bhanupriya on ‘One Health Concept’.
