SRINAGAR: Security forces on Thursday launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said.
They said on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Goripora, Sopore, in Baramulla, security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation morning.
All exit points were sealed and house to house searches launched. Sources said identity cards of all male members were being checked properly before allowing them to go.
The operation was going on when the reports last came in, they said. It is being reported that militants, who were hiding in the upper heights, had come down after heavy snowfall and chilly weather condition. (AGENCIES)
